Support for ISCOS defense activities of workers’ rights in China

duration: 2 years (From 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2017)
budget: 34,100 EUR

Objectives
Strengthen civil society organisations that actively defend worker’s rights in China

Type of activities
1. Monitor the situation of the Chinese organisations involved in the labour market,
through the Chinese and international specialised websites and through direct contacts with partners

2. Foster the political and cultural debate raised by the partner organisations

3. Facilitate the networking of Chinese organisations with the trade union networks and human rights activists in Italy and at international level (ITUC, ETUC, Global Unions, Global Right Watch, etc.)

4. ChinaNews publication and its dissemination

5. Develop initiatives in Italy and in Europe that inform and sensitise civil society and institutions (MAECI, Italian Parliament, European Parliament)

Description
The regime in China legally and bureaucratically hinders NGOs and local organisations in their partnerships.

ISCOS doesn’t want to disperse the heritage of relationships with Chinese organisations and the knowledge acquired thanks to its presence in the country since 2008. At the same time, Iscos is committed to keeping Italian, European and international civil society informed on the state of continuous restriction of individual and collective freedoms in China.
