Strengthening the Trade Union Movement in Uganda

duration: 4 years (From 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2018)
budget: not communicated

Description
Uganda’s foreign investments and the consequent pressure on workers’ rights have put NOTU in a challenging situation. The previously fragmented labour movement is now being consolidated. NOTU needs support in order to strengthen the organization through increased membership and better dues collection. The members’ interests should be insured through better Collective Bargaining Agreements. Training, for instance in collective bargaining, is needed to ensure this.

Objectives
The trade union confederation in Uganda is stronger and more representative, and capable of engaging in constructive dialogue with employers and government in its fight for workers’ rights.

Type of activities
Training, Organizational development
