Southern Africa: Building Workers’ Capacity to Influence Policy Processes in Southern Africa (LESOTHO, ZAMBIA, ZIMBABWE)
Project description
To promote freedom of association and other workers’ rights in Southern Africa, the Center will develop and strengthen the capacity of regional federations and trade unions operating in the textile and garment sector, the mining sector, as well as other civil society organizations, through a training program for organizers and union leaders. To coordinate these efforts, the Center will establish a new office in Lesotho and provide subgrants to the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions, and the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions.
Objective 1: To increase the capacity of trade unions in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho to protect the rights of workers through organizing and participating in the national governance processes
Objective 2: To strengthen networking between trade union national centers and sub-regional bodies advocating for worker rights
