South Asia Regional: Promote Decent Work Conditions and Fundamental Workplace Freedoms for All Workers-Phase V
Description of the project
To promote the expansion of democratic spaces in South Asia, the Center will enhance the capacity of trade unions in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and India to form sub-regional coalitions; advocate in key economic sectors on worker rights, labor laws, sustainable development goals (SDGs), gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH), and migration; and to organize and promote democratic practices and structures within the unions while representing a broad base of workers, including migrant workers, women and youth.
Objective 1: To support the organizational capacity of the SARTUC to raise trade union affiliates’ awareness on SDGs and enhance their capacity to advocate for and monitor the implementation of key SDGs particularly in India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka
Objective 2: To strengthen the capacity of Sri Lankan unions to advance the rights of women, youth, migrants and other underrepresented workers
Objective 3: To build the capacity of Maldivian unions to effectively advocate for and represent the interest of all workers, including migrant
