SBASHK

The teachers union of Kosova SBASHK (which stands for the Union of Education, Science and Culture of Kosova) was established in 1990 and for nine years worked in a semi-clandestine environment.
The union representes employees in education, research and culture in Kosovo. SBASHK became a member of EI in 1996. It maintains close relationships with sister organisations in the region and in Europe. This trade union had 16,466 paying members as of June 2009. There are 23,000 people working in the sector. The percentage of female, trade union members is 47.8.
The Serbian trade union of teachers in Kosovo, SOK, operates from one of the five Serbian enclaves, Gracanica. The trade union started up after the war in Kosovo. It targets 3500 Serbian employees in education in Kosov
