Promoting Quality Public Transport

The purpose of the proposed project is to build the collective knowledge and capacity of trade unions in urban transport to campaign for quality public transport services and to organise and build strong unions.

The project objectives are:
•To build an understanding amongst urban transport unions of different models of public transport provision (including public and private roles in investment, infrastructure development and service delivery) and their impact on employment.
•To analyse target multinational companies involved in public transport provision.
•To develop trade union campaigning strategies to promote quality public transport services and decent jobs and conditions for transport workers.
•To develop trade union bargaining strategies to secure decent conditions and rights for public transport workers.
•To build alliances between GUFs, trade unions and other civil society organizations to promote quality public services, including public transport.
