MENA Regional: A New Social Contract Post COVID-19

duration: 1 year 3 months 1 day (From 1 October 2020 to 31 December 2021)
budget: not communicated

Description of the project
To strengthen the capacity of unions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to advocate for a new social contract in their countries, using gaps in social safety nets exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic to demand better protections for workers, the Center will convene unions to discuss gaps, exchange ideas and connect to the ITUC’s global campaign for a new social contract. The Center will support unions in three countries in activities to identify the needs of workers and propose recommendations for systemic reform

Objective 1: To strengthen the capacity of unions in the MENA region to evaluate changing economic realities, identify how workers can influence that change and effectively advocate forsystemic reforms that improve labor protections and other representative policies for all workers and their broader communities.
