Empowering Brazilian Garment Sector Unions to Combat Gender-Based Violence and LGBTQ Discrimination in the Workplace
Objective 1: Promote results-based social dialogue between employer and worker organizations in the Brazilian garment industry, to reduce the occurrence and impacts of gender-based violence (GBV) in the workplace.
Objective 2: Develop effective reporting channels which will permit Brazilian garment workers to report cases of GBV in their workplaces to their unions and increase the ability of these unions to be able to respond and seek suitable remedies for the victims.
Objective 3: Improve the capacity of Brazilian LGBTQ garment workers and their allies in the union movement to combat homophobia in employment and at work, and to increase their participation in democratic union organizations.
This project will raise awareness and train Brazilian garment sector union leaders and workers to better engage in advocacy, social dialogue and legal defence efforts to combat diverse forms of gender-based violence (GBV) and to eliminate workplace discrimination against LGBTQ garment workers.
