Employment Support Programme for Workers with Disabilities in Rwanda
Description
The Project aims to improve employment prospects of people with disabilities through increased awareness and understanding of their rights and entitlements among disabled people already in employment and those seeking employment, employers and trade union leaders at national and sectoral level. It also seeks to raise the profile of disability rights through the establishment of disabled workers’ committees in CESTRAR affiliates and within CESTRAR structures, thereby, moving the issue up on the trade union agenda.

Expected outcomes
The expected outcomes of the current project are as follows:
• 25 trained ‘disability champions’ in the workplace
• 10 trained lead facilitators to further develop outreach training programmes within the national trade union centre
• Greater awareness and understanding of their rights and entitlements among 100 people with disabilities
• 10 disabled workers’ committees in CESTRAR affiliates
• One disabled workers’ committee in CESTRAR
• 5 union constitutions specially amended to promote rights of workers with disabilities
