Support to engage the Mozambican Trade Unions in Vocational Education and Training (VET)

duration: 10 months 2 days (From 1 March to 31 December 2012)
budget: 269,331 EUR

Immediate objectives:
1. The involved trade unions are able to participate effectively in the development and implementation of VET policies;
2. Training needs, training modalities, etc. In the VET system are identified through improved dialogue between trade unions and employer organisations.

Development objective:
The partners of the labour market contribute to improving the qualifications of the workforce, thereby improving workers’ living conditions and employment possibilities, as well as providing industries with skilled labour as a base for continued industrial development.

Working methods:
1. Study-trip to South Africa
2. Policy development seminar
3. Seminars with employers to identify training- and education needs
4. Identification and implementation of skills upgrading pilot courses.
5. Establishing and operating internal VET bodies, and carry out social dialogue with employers regarding VET content and modalities
6. Evaluation and strategic planning seminar for strategic plan.
