Organising and Networking Migrant and Cross Border Workers in Asia

duration: 2 years (From 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2012)
budget: 214,846 EUR

Objective:
Contribute to organising and creating better living and working conditions for temporary and permanent migrant workers by making BWI a global and regional representative of migrants

Working methods
1. Increase union membership density of migrants in BWI affiliates by organising and recruitment drives and other BWI facilitated capacity-building measures.
2. Improve the terms and conditions of employment of migrants through collective bargaining, social dialogue, campaigning, advocacy and other forms of representation and negotiation.
3. BWI coordinates a regional action plan that feeds into the global action plan and has become a regional and global player in labour migration as a representative organisation and as a policy advocate.
