duration: 5 years (From 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2026)
budget: not communicated

Description
COSYBU/FNTT-SI will negotiate legislation to apply the reviewed labour & social protection codes to informal workers, esp. in the field of employment, OHS, social protection and training (ILO R204). With support from MSI, COSYBU/FNTT-SI will promote GBV measures (ILO C190), and establish consultation processes on Burundi’s climate policies (ILO Guiding principles on Just Transition).
At workplace level, they will negotiate the introduction of OHS measures, GBV-prevention policies, and climate change mitigation/adaptation measures, and will establish monitoring instruments to inform national social dialogue.
In line with the Decent Work Country Programme, COSYBU/FNTT-SI will advocate for the ratification of ILO C155, C183 and C190; they will partner with other organisations to promote just transition and the extension of social protection, and to raise awareness about GBV.
Exchanges of best practices with other organisations (including ITUC-Africa) are foreseen at continental level.

Objectives
Strengthened trade union partners have improved social dialogue (SDG 16.7), as a right and a governance instrument for all precarious workers in the formal and informal economy, in contribution to a just transition from the informal to the formal economy (ILO Recommendation 204, SDG 8.3, 8.5 & 8.8), with attention to gender and age equality (SDG 5.1 & 5.2), and the environment (SDG 13.2).
