Decent employment , labour market integration and social dialogue in East and Southern Africa

duration: 2 years (From 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2013)
budget: 4,331,241 EUR

Immediate objectives:
1. Regional trade unions in the two regions will contribute to develop and implement regional policies that can strengthen employment and decent work;
2. National trade unions in Eastern and Southern Africa have the capacity to advocate for the implementation of the decent work agenda and the provision of services to workers in both formal and informal employment with specific emphasis on women and youth.

Development objective:
The programme will contribute to the creation of decent employment in the two regions

Working method:
1. Organizational development and capacity strengthening, materials development, OSH and HIV/AIDS, social dialogue and industrial relations, training of trainers, informal economy
2. Human resource support to EATUC and SATUCC secretariats.
3. Leadership support and negotiations of key policy issues
4. Regional workshops on educational issues.
5. Needs assessment and training seminars on decent working conditions, trade unionism and international best practice on OSH.
